Knowing the Worth of the Word
“Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word.”
Luke 10:38-39
This passage introduces us to two sisters, Martha and Mary. While Martha was busy or preoccupied with too many things, Mary on the other hand, chose to sit at Jesus’ feet to hear the Word. There is profit in hearing the Word! Jesus commended Mary for choosing or prioritizing the Word. “But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.”
Luke 10:42
Until we know and understand the Worth of the Word, we may not prioritize the Word the way we should.
The Worth of the Word is established on the premise that the world was made or framed by the Word. The Bible says, “Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.”
Hebrew 11:3
With the Word, we too can frame our own world. With the Word, we can make things happen. Do you know that all things are sustained or upheld by the Word of His power? (Hebrew 1:3)
That means the Word is critical to our sustenance or existence. We must place value on the Word, to connect with power or virtue loaded therein. Do you know that your salvation or safety is in the Word? And that your blessings or breakthroughs are also packaged in the Word? Go for the Word! Camp around the Word
Let’s consider 5 reasons why the Word is critically important to us:
1. We are born again by the Word!
“Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.”
1 Peter 1:23
2. We live by the Word!
“And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.”
Luke 4:4
3. Hearing the Word is a Proof that we are of God!
“He that is of God heareth God’s words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.”
John 8:47
4. Our Faith comes by the Word!
“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
Romans 10:17
5. The Word of God endures forever!
“But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.”
1 Peter 1:25
I pray that the Word of God will deliver tangible results in your life in Jesus mighty name.
