Knowing how to Procure Favour
“He that diligently seeketh good procureth favour: but he that seeketh mischief, it shall come unto him.”
The Bible tells us that the labour of the foolish wearies them, because they do not know how to go to the city. The truth is that there is a “How” to procure favour! Yes, none of us can merit favour as it were, but we can position ourselves to be favoured. For instance, if you want a free ride to your office, you must position yourself by the roadside to be seen by a kind driver that will give you a lift. There are things we must do or be in order to procure His favour. For instance, in the passage under review, a seeker of good will always locate favour. As such, one of the easiest ways to connect with favour is to be a seeker of good. If we diligently seek the good of His kingdom and humanity, we are most likely going to procure favour.
Do you know that a prayerful person can procure His favour? You can’t stand in prayers before God of all favours, and not be favoured! We find grace or favour when we come boldly before His presence. The Bible says,
“Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”
In 1Chronicles 4:10, Jabez engaged the key of prayers to secure his blessings: “… Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.”
Let’s consider 3 keys to procuring favour:
1. Key of Righteousness!
“For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.”
God reserves His favour for the righteous! Are you in His book of righteousness? Are you a born again child of God? Then you are righteous because of Jesus Christ. Favour and grace is your portion as you walk uprightly before God! The Bible says,
“For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.”
2. Key of dwelling in Zion!
“Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her, yea, the set time, is come.”
Do you know that your regular appearance in Zion could engender favour? Zion in our context is the church of God! Do you love attending church services? Some blessings or favour will not come to you except you are in fellowship with fellow brethren. I’m of firm conviction that we move from favour to favour as we dwell in the house of God. We go from one level of strength to another as we appear before God in Zion. (Psalms 84:7)
3. Key of Wisdom!
“For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD.”
When you find wisdom, you will definitely procure favour from the Lord. No wonder Solomon longed for wisdom and prayed for it sincerely and passionately. Hope you know that he was a well favoured king of Israel. Wisdom equals favour! Try by all means to be wise! Learn to pray for wisdom regularly! “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”
I decree and declare that you will procure favour always in Jesus mighty name.
