YDI: A BRIEF PROFILE

Young Disciples International (Ydi) is an independent Christian Youth Organisation, committed to Youth Development, Empowerment and Discipleship. Ydi is focused on mentoring our young people - the Successor-generation and grooming them in the ways of the Lord. Ydi took off as a full-fledge youth ministry on 30th January, 1996.

OUR VISION
To raise young disciples that will be usable and useful to our Lord Jesus Christ and His kingdom; and also empowering them to make a difference in their families, schools, churches, communities and nations; thereby serving God’s purposes in their generation.

OUR MISSION STATEMENT
To groom highly informed, responsible, impact-making and God-fearing Successor leaders that will be relevant to God and Humanity.

OUR MISSION OBJECTIVES

To reach out to young people with the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
To inculcate in young people Christian principles, morals and values.
To provide support services to youths, especially those at risk and prone to crimes.
To provide a wide range of development activities that will make youths realize their potentials and fulfill their God-given purposes.
To raise young leaders patterned after the Biblical Joseph.

YDI CHAPTERS
The ministry is decentralized into chapters for easy coordination and access to our services and programmes. These chapters are established and supervised by Ydi Partners/Fellows/Associates who have been appointed by the Ministry leadership.

YDI AND THE LOCAL CHURCH
Ydi positively impacts local churches through specialized training for their young people in order for them to serve their churches better. Ydi also adds value to the local church via training programmes designed to make children/youth workers effective in their ministries.

FUNDING
Ydi is basically funded through donations and offerings given by Ydi covenant partners, associates, church/ministry donors and young disciples.

PARTNERSHIP
Covenant partnership is open to all Christians/churches who share our vision and mission to the successor-generation.

LEADERSHIP
Ydi is led by the International President, Pastor Joe Jesimiel Ogbe and his wife, Pastor (Mrs) Henrietta Ogbe and other skilled youth workers. Other leadership organs are Ydi Board of Trustees, Board of Patrons, Fellows/Associates and National Youth Executive Councils.

Joe Jesimiel Ogbe

Joe Jesimiel Ogbe is a veteran youth minister, having been in the trenches of Youth Ministry for 25 years. Pastor Joe, as he is fondly called, is the founder of Young Disciples International (YDi), a foremost Christian youth ministry in Nigeria.

He is a mentor to several people and also a regular speaker in youth and singles conferences, with outstanding proofs.

As a profilic writer, he has authored many books, such as BUILDING AN EFFECTIVE YOUTH MINISTRY, QUESTIONS THAT SINGLES ASK, TEENAGERS AND RELATIONSHIPS, YOUTH AND OPPORTUNITY e.t.c

He is married to Hettie, also a youth minister and gospel artiste. They are blessed with children.

Hettie Ogbe

Ade Owolabi

Ade has been a part of the YDI family since 1997; attended the basic & Leadership classes of the bible school in the year 2000: served as the Vice President of YDI UNILAG CHAPTER and became a member of YDI FELLOWS council in 2007.

He is driven by the need for young people to understand and wake up to their peculiar life responsibilities early and he is sold-out to being a veritable tool through which many will be influenced for God as he has been over the years through the ministry of YDI. He is a graduate of Economics from the renouned University Of Lagos; a songwriter and a communicator of value via word-based knowledge.

He presently serves God & Humanity in YDI as the Youth Co-ordinator and PERSONAL ASSISTANT to Pastor JOE JESIMIEL OGBE, the International President of YDI at the International Headquarters

Gbenga Fatogun

Gbenga joined YDI in 2004 as a student of the Advanced Leadership Class of the Summer Bible School. He also served as the Chapter President of YDI, Obafemi Awolowo University and National President in 2008. Gbenga has a strong flair for leadership development and training. Among others, he has authored a leadership text specifically for secondary school students titled "Senior Gbenga"

He studied Economics Education at the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University. He also serves on the Fellows Council of the ministry of YDI. Gbenga currently works with Young Disciples International, as the Co-ordinator of Successor Leaders Institute and also oversees the various YDI Chapters across the country.

Akingbade Olapeju

Peju joined YDi in the year 2002 and her first meeting convinced her beyond reasonable doubts that she could not but embrace YDI.

After graduating from YDLI in 2004, she discovered purpose, which is to minister salvation to the unsaved, letting them know that they have been made partakers of God’s promises in Christ Jesus. Ephesians 3 vs 5- 6.

She also served as the vice president /president of the youthouse chapter between years 2005 and 2006. She currently works as the front desk personnel at the ministry’s international headquarters office. Although married, she would forever remain a YD

Sir Bezaleel Ashefor

Bezaleel has always been a curious person, which led him to always break or make things right from a young age, so when he became a teenager, he began to seek after the right way to live. He got invited to YDi by a friend and he got hooked from that day on.

He finds purpose in creating new technologies, bulding companies and finding new ways and avenues through which the gospel could be spread using technology.

Currently a student of the University Of Ibadan, Co-Founder of Ephod Software Systems(www.ephodng.com), V.P of Design; DIUS Studios, he is the head, IT Department, Young Disciples International, Worldwide

Oluwaseun IbukunOni

Oluwaseun IbukunOni is a teacher of God's word with a mandate "to raise a people of Wisdom, Wealth and Wonders emphasising the integrity of the Word". He is the convener of "Creative Evangelism and Growth Seminars" in campuses. 'Seun is a graduate of Economics from the University of Jos. He is of the conviction that transformation does not advance on desires alone but on prayer-inspired actions.

He was the pioneer president of YDI, University of Jos Chapter. He currently serves as a volunteer staff at the international headquarters of YDI in Lagos.

Sandra Emmanuel

Sandra Emmanuel has been a part of the ministry of YDI since April 2009 where she met with and became sold-out to God

She is a young vibrant lady driven by the need for ladies to understand their uniqueness in God and his kingdom here on earth and also their significant place in the home, society and beyond, fulfilling the ministry’s anchor scripture in Psalm 144:12B: That our daughters may be as cornerstone polished after the similitude of a palace.

She is presently serving as the vice president of the youthouse chapter and working as an office personnel at the international headquarters of YDI
